I recently just started on the Mac scene with a refurb 1st Gen, and I think the previous generation are going to continue to get just a many sales as possibly the new ones. The lack of firewire as it works strickly with Home Movie cameras almost exclusively is baffling. Many hard drives use the connection as well (although USB 2.0 is pretty prevalent there.)
Don't worry about "Book Buyer", that guy doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. I've heard from other reviews that a lot of professionals that enjoyed the OSX system, preferred the mobile footprint of the MB vs. the MBP. I guess some guys never learn, including Apple. Removing FW, what were you thinking?!Book Buyer is a doof. The MacBook can't be used by professional users? Who says? Apple? Because they want you to spend $2000 on a MacBook Pro? Cry me a river.
It'd be more accurate to say that the MacBook USED to be used by professional users if they wanted to, but not anymore, because Apple decided to hobble 'em for yucks, grins, and to squeeze more cash out of users. Yay team.
Stop drinking the kool-aid.Except for graphics performance, our CPU benchmarks are very lackluster in comparison." - We are waiting for you to publish this data right here, right now so we can decide for ourselves. Please do sir.
You go on for five paragraphs about lack of a firewire port. Most people do not need one. You review is extremely narrow without justification of the 2 stars you gave it. That ruins reviews overall for people deciding to see whether or not this would be a decent purchase for them. 2 stars would be a below average, piss poor product that people should not buy. This macbook on the other hand, is not.
